Chocolate peanut butter dessert cups are the perfect little dessert for peanut butter lovers. Chocolate cookie crust, peanut butter cream, chocolate ganache, and a mini peanut butter cup. These sweet treats are great for parties, picnics, and bake sales.
What is a Dessert Cup?
Dessert cups are essentially mini trifles in small cups! Think jello shot, but more to satisfy your sweet-tooth! Dessert cups are great for parties, showers, picnics, tailgating, bake sales, and the like! They are the best desserts to impress your guests! Best part is, it is a no bake dessert, so no oven required!
Most of my dessert cups recipes are made with simple ingredients that you may already have in your pantry. I have several cups that are made with a cream cheese filling base and some that are made with a pudding base! (Who can say no to chocolate pudding?)
I love dessert cups for satisfying a craving if you just need a taste of something sweet! Plus, if you make a dessert cup recipe and add strawberry, raspberry, blueberries, or some other berry, doesn’t that mean we are eating healthy??
Ingredients for Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert Cups
- Chocolate sandwich cookies – Oreo cookies are great for making the crust layer. Use a food processor to make fine crumbs. No need to remove the cream filling.
- Unsalted butter – Melted.
- Cream cheese – Room temperature.
- Granulated sugar – For sweetness.
- Vanilla extract – Vanilla extract adds great flavor to the peanut butter cream.
- Peanut butter – Creamy peanut butter works best. Crunchy peanut butter won’t work well.
- Heavy cream – Helps the peanut butter cream whip up and become light and fluffy. Also, add it to the chocolate chips to make a chocolate sauce to drizzle over the peanut butter cream.
- Chocolate chips – I love using semisweet chocolate chips. You can also use milk chocolate or dark chocolate.
- Mini peanut butter cups – If you can’t find mini peanut butter cups, you can use the regular size and cut them into smaller pieces.

Should the peanut butter mixture become firm? I am not sure I whipped it enough. Mine was sort of runny? But still tasted great. Firmed up in fridge ?
Hi Joy! It should thicken up and be the consistency of a mousse. You may have needed to whip it a bit more. They will firm up a bit when they are chilled.
Can these be frozen?
Yes! They can be frozen!
