Easy Christmas Cupcake Designs
These easy Christmas cupcake designs are perfect for the holidays! With a few piping tips, a couple colors of buttercream, and some festive decorations, these cupcakes will look amazing on your Christmas dessert table.

Easy Christmas Cupcake Designs
Move over Christmas cookies! This holiday season, fun and festive Christmas cupcakes are the ultimate treat. These cupcake designs are easy and fun to make for kids and adults alike.
For the Christmas cupcake designs pictured below, I used my chocolate cupcake recipe with vanilla buttercream frosting. Use your favorite cupcake flavor to make the cupcake base! The amount of buttercream you will need will depend on how many cupcakes you are making. One batch of frosting is typically enough to decorate about 2 dozen cupcakes.
Tips for Making the Best Christmas Cupcakes
- Check out my baking tips posts on 10 Tips for Baking Perfect Cupcakes, 10 Tips for Making Perfect Buttercream, and How to Make Smooth Buttercream Frosting to learn simple tips and tricks to make the best cupcakes.
- Be sure to use gel food coloring rather than liquid food coloring for the best and brightest color with no impact on the taste and texture of the frosting.
- Do not let the buttercream sit in the piping bags for too long. The frosting will form air bubbles as it sits which can impact the appearance of the buttercream. Stir the frosting with a spatula before filling the piping bags to remove air bubbles.
- Be sure that the buttercream is at room temperature for easy piping.
Here are ten of my favorite easy Christmas cupcake designs. For each design, I will share the tools and supplies you need to make the design, step-by-step instructions, and a video to show you exactly how to decorate the cupcakes!
