  • Unsalted butter โ€“ Melted. You can also use salted if you prefer.
  • Instant vanilla pudding mix โ€“ Be sure it is instant pudding mix and not cook and serve. A 3.9 ounce box.
  • Milk โ€“ Use whatever milk you would like!
  • Heavy cream โ€“ Heavy cream or heavy whipping cream work equally as well for this recipe.
  • Gel food coloring – To give these dessert cups some Halloween flair, add a few drops of gel food coloring to the vanilla mousse! Use whichever color you would like!

How to Make Halloween Dessert Cups

  1. Combine vanilla sandwich cookie crumbs, melted butter, and Halloween sprinkles.
  2. Portion the golden Oreo cookie crumbs into 28 2-ounce plastic cups using a small cookie scoop or spoon. Use one of the plastic cups to press the crumbs into the bottom of the cup.
  3. In another mixing bowl, whisk together instant vanilla pudding mix and milk. Chill for 5 minutes.
  4. Add in heavy cream to the pudding mixture and whip with an electric hand mixer until thickened. Add a few drops of yellow and green gel food coloring to the mousse, if desired.
  5. Fill a piping bag with the mousse mixture. Pipe the mousse into the cups until about 3/4 full.
  6. Decorate the dessert cups with Halloween sprinkles. Have fun and be creative.
  7. Seal the cups with a lid and chill. The cups can be served immediately or stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days.

Halloween Dessert Cups Recipe Tips

  • Theย plastic cups with lidsย can be found onย Amazonย or at your local party supply store. You can also use cupcake liners or make it into a no bake cheesecake in an 8-inch pan.
  • This recipe makes approximately 28ย 2-ounce cups. This is an estimation. You may have a few more or a few less depending on how much vanilla mousse filling you pipe into the cups! Aย small cookie scoopย measures the perfect amount of crumbs in the 28 cups.
  • To tint the vanilla mousse, I recommend using gel food coloring! For these dessert cups, I used a few drops each of yellow and green gel food coloring to get a neon green color. Use whatever color you would like to make these dessert cups fun and festive!
  • A word of caution! The sprinkles will bleed after some time! Due to the moisture in the dessert cups, after a day, the sprinkles will start to bleed color, so this is a dessert cup you may want to make and eat the same day! If you don’t mind a little bleeding color, the dessert cups can be kept for 2 to 3 days in the refrigerator. If you want to avoid color bleeding, you could replace the sprinkles with other decorations including candies, gummy worms, candy pumpkins, or candy corn!
  • Store the cups in the refrigerator for about 2 to 3 days. A great way to serve these dessert cups at a party is straight out of a cooler so they remain chilled. When serving, do not leave the cups out for more than 30 minutes or so.

  1. Marina Fuentes says:

How many Oreoโ€™s did you use for this recipe?

    1. Hi Marina! I’m not actually sure. I didn’t count. However, I did a quick Google search and it says there are about 11 Oreos in one cup of crumbs, so my educated guess is 22 Oreos for this recipe!
