Do you realize this is 4x the amount of butter any other cream cheese frosting calls for. 2 cups? Wow.
Hi Shawna! Yes, I do realize that – I created the recipe. I know the butter amount is higher than some traditional cream cheese frostings, but this ratio is intentional โ it creates a lighter, fluffier, more pipeable frosting that holds up well on cupcakes and cakes without getting runny. The cream cheese flavor is still there, but with a smoother, more stable texture. This frosting behaves more like a buttercream and is more stable and holds its shape when piped. There are tons of frosting recipes that have various ratios of butter and cream cheese. It sounds like you would prefer one that has more cream cheese which is great! Did you try the recipe?
